PhysicsPhysics is an interesting subject, covering a wide variety of topics from the mechanics of snooker to the transmission of energy through empty space. Although broad topic areas like Mechanics and Electromagnetism might appear widely different, some core concepts such as the Conservation of Energy run through them all. Physics attempts to explain the natural phenomena we see around us. Difficulties can arise when an idea we use in everyday discourse (like 'Weight' for example) is used in a more specialised way in Physics. One of the most useful things a tutor can do is to explain how Physics takes an everyday idea and explores it further, enabling a pupil to deepen his or her understanding of the natural world. As with all subjects, the more you practise the better you will get. The web sites below offer good learning and practice material for a variety of levels. BBC GCSE BiteSize Physics
